VERSION 0.4.0 RELEASE


Our newest Half Shell updates centers around an overhaul in level design, presenting to you the beginnings of our brand-new levels, available now to playtest.

VERSION 0.4.0 FEATURES

Level Design

  • Half Shell now has two brand new levels for you to explore and purge of fiends.
  • A new introductory sequence for Apollyon to present and introduce himself to you
  • An arena-combat style first level outside of Kerth’s house
  • A longer exploration second level to discover what the fiends have been up to in this town…

Music

  • 2 brand new tracks by composer Jacob Lives : main menu track and combat music for exploring the new levels

Dialogue

  • Finally, you can hear the actual voice of Apollyon as he introduces himself to you. Stay tuned as he becomes more talkative in future updates…

Art

  • New & updated environment art including:
  • Remodeled health & ammo pickups
  • New indoor props including couches, TVs, bathtub, sink, toilet, shelves, lamps, pipes, and more.
  • Remodeled and retextured outdoor models including chain link fences, ground/dirt, grass, trees, bottles and other trash items and more.

Enemies

  • Enemies drop heath and shell pickups on death. If the player is low on health, enemies will drop health packs. If the player is low on slugs, ranged enemies will drop slug ammo boxes.
  • On the technical side, enemies now run off of a different behavior system, which is more flexible and reliable (and allows for expansion with new future enemy types…)
